Chuck Bought a Donkey in Texas — And Somehow Made a Profit

Chuck moved to Texas and decided he wanted to live the full country life, so he bought a donkey from a local farmer for $100. The farmer agreed to deliver the donkey the very next day. Chuck was excited, already picturing himself as a real rancher.

The next day, the farmer showed up looking nervous. He scratched his head and said, “I’m sorry, son, but I’ve got bad news. The donkey died.”

Chuck frowned for a moment, then said calmly, “Well, just give me my money back then.”

The farmer shook his head. “Can’t do that. I already spent the money.”

Chuck thought for a second and replied, “Alright then. Just bring me the dead donkey.”

The farmer looked confused but did as he was told. A few weeks later, the farmer ran into Chuck in town and asked, “Whatever happened with that dead donkey?”

Chuck grinned. “I raffled him off.”

“Raffled him off?” the farmer asked. “How’d you do that?”

Chuck said, “I sold 500 tickets at $2 a piece.”

The farmer’s jaw dropped. “Didn’t anyone complain?”

Chuck smiled wider and said, “Just the guy who won.”

“And what did you do?” the farmer asked.

Chuck replied, “I gave him his $2 back.”
